The Problem

  • In 1980, 5.75% of America's youth were obese. Today the number is nearly 20% That's 1 in 5!
  • In 2009, only Colorado and DC had obesity rates under 20%, including both kids and adults.
  • Obesity often results in cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer, and type 2 diabetes.

Healthy Vending

Some believe vending machines are synonymous with junk-food. However, avant-garde companies such as Natural Cravings Healthy Vending, H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending, and Fresh Healthy Vending are revolutionizing the vending industry by offering better choices at affordable prices.

Legislation

The Healthy Kids Act and the California Senate Bill 12 guidelines (SB12) for foods sold in public schools are a good start, however they don't yet address ingredient makeup. They simply deal with fat and calorie content; complete the picture with wholesome, fulfilling options. 

Initiatives

First Lady Michelle Obama brought energy and urgency to the obesity epidemic.  Her Let’s Move campaign is built on four fundamental pillars, which include providing and improving access to healthy and affordable food in schools.
